
“D Street” Shelter
The Merced CoC “D Street” Shelter is a 50 bed, low-barrier, congregate emergency shelter. This facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides a variety of services, such as, possession storage, case management, housing navigation, resource connection, and rapid re-housing services. The D Street Shelter plays a crucial role in addressing homelessness by providing a holistic approach that combines shelter, support, and connection to resources.

Merced County Community Action Agency (MCCAA) is contracted by the Merced City and County Continuum of Care (Merced CoC) to operate the D Street Shelter.

Placement at the D Street Shelter is based on bed availability. Individuals and families experiencing homelessness can contact Turning Point New Directions to be assessed for placement into emergency shelter. All emergency shelter referrals must come through Turning Point New Directions.

Funding for the D Street Shelter comes from multiple sources, and is administered through Merced CoC. Funding sources include rounds of the Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP), California Emergency Solutions and Housing (CESH), and the Community Services Block Grant.

In accordance with the Merced CoC policies and procedures, emergency shelters shall not include a minimum or maximum length of stay for participants.
