Merced County Navigation Center

The Merced County Navigation Center is a 76 bed, low-barrier, congregate emergency shelter. This facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides a variety of services, such as, possession storage, case management, housing navigation, resource connection, and rapid re-housing services. The Navigation Center plays a crucial role in addressing homelessness by providing a holistic approach that combines shelter, support, and connection to resources.

Mission Merced Incorporated is contracted by the County of Merced to operate the Navigation Center. Mission Merced has operated the Navigation Center since its opening in 2021.

  • Placement at the Navigation Center is based on bed availability. Individuals experiencing homelessness can contact Turning Point New Directions to be assessed for placement into emergency shelter. All emergency shelter referrals must come through Turning Point New Directions.

  • Funding for the Navigation Center comes from multiple sources, and is administered through the County of Merced. A few of these sources include multiple rounds of the Permanent Local Housing Allocation Program (PLHA) and the Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) grants.

  • In accordance with the Merced CoC policies and procedures, emergency shelters shall not include a minimum or maximum length of stay for participants.
